چکیده
This research was qualitative with descriptive approach, which aimed determined the level of success students in solving representation problems based on type representation, namely numbers, algebra, geometry, and statistics to know their thinking processes. The subjects this study were first semester at Patompo University who selected using a purposive sampling technique. 2 each representational domain. Solving mathematical problems using knowledge-based systems
In this paper, a knowledge-based system is developed to teach students in a basic mathematical course how to solve problems. First, the system recognizes handwritten mathematical expressions. Then, it understands the questions, interprets the expressions, and finally, solves the problems. In addition, two mathematical topics are addressed: differentiation and finding a general term in a series ...

متن کاملMathematical Thinking in Chemistry
Mathematical chemistry is often thought to be a 20-century subdiscipline of chemistry, but in this paper we discuss several early chemical ideas and some landmarks of chemistry as instances of the mathematical way of thinking; many of them before 1900. By the mathematical way of thinking, we follow Weyl’s description of it in terms of functional thinking, i.e. setting up variables, symbolizing ...
متن کاملThinking beyond the HIPC Initiative to Solving Structural Problems
This paper attempts to answer the following question: If the HIPC Initiative is fully successful and managed to write-off all debt that is owed by Africa, will the debt problem be over? The answer is ‘no’. This pessimist answer is arrived at by examining the historical origin of African debt and the structural problems the continent is confronted with. The literature about the origins of the Af...
